Cosmetic function
the essential oil of Lime (or Limetta) is obtained by distilling the vapour from the Citrus aurantifolia fruit. The richness of mineral salts (like potassium and magnesium), organic acids, flavonoids and vitamins (in particular C and B), gives this essential oil anti-oxidant, refreshing and tonifying properties.
Description
Tree of the Rutacee family that stands some 4-5 m high and originally comes from the tropical and sub-tropical zones. The pale green leaves are small, while the fruit varies from green to yellow-green depending on how ripe it is and its quality. The fruit with a highly-scented yellowish-green, tender, juicy pulp and acidulous taste is almost seedless; the skin is thin and the essential oil is obtained from this.

According to a number of scientific theories, lime was probably born from a lemon/citron hybrid.
