BERGAMOT

Citrus aurantium bergamia fruit oil

Cosmetic function

Bergamot essential oil is obtained by cold pressing the peels of ripe or nearly ripe fruit. It has a characteristic, fresh, sweetly fruity and slightly floral scent (top note) and has antibacterial, hygienising, deodorant and healing properties.

Description

A tree which belongs to the Rutaceae (citrus) family, from three to four metres tall, with oval leaves and fruits like little oranges which, when ripe, have a greenish-yellow colour. The bergamot is cultivated with meticulous care in Calabria, an Italian region with the ideal climatic conditions for the development of this plant. The chemical characteristics of the essential oil can vary considerably, depending on the influence of climatic changes on the fruit ripening process.

Notes

Bergamot essential oil is also used in aromatherapy for its antidepressant, relaxing, toning properties. It is also considered a “magic” oil, which helps the user to achieve success. According to ancient tradition, when applied to the palms of the hands, it protects against negative external influences, while a trace of bergamot applied to purses and wallets is said to “attract” money.
