This extract of physalis in supercritical CO2 is considered a natural hydrocortisone, as it mimes its positive effects, without any side effects. It reduces the signs of inflammation, protecting the skin against the damage induced by the heat of IR rays and stimulates the synthesis of type I collagen, restoring correct transpiration and dermal function.
Description
A perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Solanaceae family, it has a straight stem measuring 30-80 cm. Commonly known as the Chinese Lantern, it has characteristic lantern-shaped fruits wrapped inside an orange red husk, stemming from a large inflated calyx. This berry is edible and is particularly rich in vitamin C and carotenoids.
Notes
The name Alkekengi (Chinese Lantern) comes from the Greek and means “bubble” referring to the shape of the calyx, when, having inflated, it contains the fruit inside a fine husk which inflates like a balloon.
